Thought

Today, I thought about friend. I thought about the true meaning of friend. People now days don't know the true meaning of friends. In the Newbury House Dictionary, it defines friends as a person who one likes and trusts. There are many similarities friends share with one another. Nevertheless, many people use the word friends very lightly. Although they met the person once and hardly know them, they will consider that person their "friend". Ironically, I did the same thing, but today, I realized that those "friends" of mine will leave me because I don't have anything or I'm not able to give them what they want. When people ask me if I have friends, I'd answer back by saying, "just few real friends". I'd respond this way because real friends mean a person whom I can trust and whom trusts me although I may lack some qualifications as a friend and who I can count on more matter what circumstances stand before me.

I think most of us would say we only have a few real friends and that everyone else is just either an acquaintenance or a "fair weather friend" --someone who you can have fun with, but to whom you wouldn't run with a problem. I guess it's important to have both kinds of friends.
